The Minister of the Displaced in the caretaker government, Issam Sharaf El-Din, received in his office in the ministry, the representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Lebanon Ayaki Ito and the Communications Officer of the Commission, Dominique Tohme, in the presence of Sharaf El-Din’s advisor, Ambassador Haitham Abu Said, and a presentation was made of the file of the return of displaced Syrians to their country, and the study prepared by Sharaf al-Din in the Council of Ministers.
During the meeting, Sharaf El-Din stressed Lebanon's inability to bear the burdens of the displaced, and the need to work in coordination with the Syrian state, donors, and relevant organizations to secure a safe and dignified return for them to their country, especially in light of the compelling and difficult circumstances that we are going through in Lebanon, and the economic and financial burdens incurred by them. And health, security, social and educational issues due to the displacement file, considering that the only solution for their return is the plan that was prepared and approved in the previous government, in addition to the amendments that we made in the current government.
