“Why HumanRights EducationMatters”

Presenting the impact of the world’s largest human rights university network

This Global Campus (GC) event will focus on the question of ‘’why human rights education matters’’ with the objective to present the role and impact of the Global Campus of Human Rights (GC) and its network of over three thousand graduates worldwide to the members of the European Parliament, European Institutions and relevant stakeholders.

The audience will have the opportunity to get to know the GC seven Regional Master’s Programmes in Human Rights and Democratisation (RMs), as key actors in the human rights higher education sector, training leading generations of HR professionals and active citizens as contemporary change agents. The debate will center on notable alumni of the different Regional Master’s Programmes, who will introduce their success stories as human rights advocates, and highlight the impact that specialized human rights education has had on their work. The Global Campus of Human Rights is a unique network of one hundred participating universities around the world, coordinated by the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC), seeking to advance human rights and democracy through regional and global cooperation for education and research. This global network, co-funded by the European Union, is promoted through seven Regional Programmes which are based in Venice for Europe, in Sarajevo/Bologna for South East Europe, in Yerevan for the Caucasus, in Pretoria for Africa, in Bangkok for Asia-Pacific, in Buenos Aires for Latin America and the Caribbean, and in Beirut for the Arab World.
